Our office offers a full range of services relating to IP protection (patents, trademarks, designs, domains, unfair competition, copyrights, due diligences, etc.) not just for the Benelux countries, but for Europe and worldwide. Our professionals have the qualifications to advise on and handle the work involved in obtaining and defending IP rights as well as opposition, invalidity and revocation proceedings.

Our European and Dutch patent attorneys and trademark and design attorneys advise and assist clients in all legal and technical matters concerning patents, trademarks, designs and supplementary protection certificates. Our team represents applicants before the Dutch and European Patent Offices as well as the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

One of our great strengths is our close cooperation with the many IP professionals working at other HOFFMANN EITLE offices. These include IP specialists from Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain, USA, Japan, Korea and China, among others. These IP specialists have detailed knowledge of the IP systems and legal traditions in their respective home countries. It is this vast knowledge that allows the firm to broadly advise on and handle IP matters in a European and global setting, if necessary assisted by our global network of associates.

In addition to obtaining and defending your IP, we can provide you with strategic advice on the protection and exploitation of your IP assets during their entire life cycle. We have broad experience in licensing, litigation, anti-counterfeit actions and other means of ensuring that your IP stays valuable.

We also advise on the risks associated with the IP rights of third parties. Once these risks have been identified, we develop and execute strategies to avoid such risks together with the client. Depending on the commercial needs, we might file an invalidity suit or take steps to obtain a licence.

Our IP professionals also have comprehensive experience in evaluating patent portfolios and issues relating to freedom-to-operate and due diligence.
